My chiropractic journey began before I can even remember: my mother received care from a chiropractor when I was still in the womb, which helped her deliver me - a very large first baby - with little difficulty.
It wouldn’t be until a few years later that chiropractic entered my life again, when as a 10 year old when I began suffering from leg pains which were quite severe at night. The medical treatment consisted of wrapping my legs in pressure bandages and then wearing prescription therapeutic shoes. They were nothing like what the other kids were wearing, and I remember receiving a lot of teasing about them!
When all this therapy failed to help, my mother decided to take me to visit the chiropractor. Adjustments to my pelvis began to allow these awful pains to recede, and I became a normal kid again.
In later years, I saw the chiropractor for various sports injuries and felt the treatment helped me heal more quickly. When it came time to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I recalled the help I had received from the Chiropractor. With this in mind, I applied to Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.
Upon graduation in 1976, I moved to Belleville, Ontario, and set up practice, eventually running a large multi-doctor clinic with my brother. After 27 years there, I made the move to the “Island” and set up practice in Victoria.
I feel very fortunate to have been involved with so many patients in my 46 years of practice. The body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal itself is truly miraculous. This is why I can smile when patients discover that not only are they pain free, but also that many other body functions have improved as well. I love being a chiropractor as much today as when I first started practice nearly 50 years ago.

I always say that I didn’t choose to become a chiropractor; chiropractic found me, and it has been my great joy to help my patients lead healthier lives since going into practice in 1998. It’s been my life’s greatest blessing to serve as a chiropractor for nearly 25 years.
How did I get here? When I was 20, I suffered a back injury at work that did not respond to any type of care. After eight weeks of agony, I finally took the advice of a friend and went to see a chiropractor. From my first visit, the results were nothing short of miraculous. I felt so much better, and when I was involved in a car accident six weeks later, my chiropractor helped me heal from that injury as well.
After a few months of care, I also noticed changes in my general health: my chronic sinus headaches had resolved, and it seemed that my concentration was much better. As I continued to visit my chiropractor, I saw people of all ages in his office living healthier, more vibrant lives. I realized that becoming a chiropractor was something that I simply HAD to do.
After 3 years of studying Kinesiology at the University of Victoria, I went on to complete my chiropractic education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California, graduating in 1997. Learning has always been a passion for me, so I’ve also attended several postgraduate programs that focused on care for pregnant women and children. My practice has a special focus on prenatal care and care for young infants. It is very special for me to be able to provide care for expectant moms and new babies.
I believe that it is never too early or too late to benefit from chiropractic care, and I witness the benefits in my patients every day. The body knows how to heal itself, but sometimes it runs into interferences that block this. My job as a chiropractor is to give each person’s body the tools it needs to return to health, stay healthy, and maybe even become healthier and more vital over time.
